U.S. Representative Derek Kilmer will be joining members of BIJAEMA and its partners to celebrate the awarding of the 2023 Japanese American Confinement Sites (JACS) Grant. The $613,150 grant was the largest 2023 award granted by the JACS program, which is administered by the National Park Service under the Department of the Interior. The award will be used for sitework and installation of utilities in the first phase of construction of the new Visitor Center. Representative Kilmer has been a long-time supporter of the Exclusion Memorial and was instrumental in highlighting the project during the appropriations process.

Also in attendance will be WA State Senator Christine Rolfes. Through her support and sponsorship, BIJAEMA was awarded a $350,000 Local Community Development grant earlier this year.
