DESCRIPTION:You are invited to join us as we commemorate the 81st anniversary of the forced removal of Japanese Americans from Bainbridge Island. \nLOCATION: Exclusion Memorial\, 4195 Eagle Harbor Drive NE\, Bainbridge Island\nDATE: March 30\, 2023 Time: 11 am-noon \n**Parking: Drivers may drop off passengers in the Exclusion Memorial bus drop off area – watch for the sign. Drivers may then continue on to the Park and Ride at Bethany Lutheran Church\, 7968 Finch Road NE\, Bainbridge Island to catch a complimentary round trip shuttle. Shuttle service starting at 10 am -11am for the 6 minute ride and 12:30-2:30 p.m. \n**If you are a survivor\, transporting a survivor and/or need disabled parking\, contact Carol Reitz (425-765-9284) carolreitz@msn.com for special arrangements. \nIf you are a survivor\, you and your family (wear your Legacy Pin!) are welcome to attend a complimentary sushi luncheon after the program. DESCRIPTION:Join the Bainbridge Island Japanese American Exclusion Memorial Association\, the Bainbridge Island Parks & Trails Foundation\, and Bainbridge Island Metro Park & Recreation District\, for a day of stewardship to commemorate the 81st anniversary of the signing of Executive Order 9066. \nVolunteers will help care for the grounds of this important Bainbridge Island park\, including pruning vegetation\, removing weeds\, spreading mulch\, and cleaning outdoor art features. \nAll tools are provided. Understand the impact of Executive Order 9066\, which imprisoned thousands of innocent Japanese Americans during World War II. Emiko is an ordinary American teenager whose life is changed forever after Japan bombs Pearl Harbor. Emiko and every member of her family is forced to find a way to prove their loyalty to a country that sees them as “the face of the enemy. \nCommemorate the past and engage in post-performance conversation to explore our history with the Living Voices actor /educator. \nThis guest event brought to you by Living Voices and The Wing Luke Asian Museum \nTickets are donation-based\, with proceeds going to Living Voices and the Bainbridge Island Japanese American Exclusion Memorial.
